Ye Stanton
Mrs. Ye Stanton brings over a decade of teaching experience to Pikake Music Studio, where she specializes in mentoring young musicians and helping them discover their strengths while developing a genuine love for music.
With a passion for children's education, Mrs. Ye is dedicated to creating an inspiring musical experience and helping students achieve their full musical potential. Her teaching approach encompasses a wide range of skills, including lead-sheet reading, theory, ear training, improvisation, composition, and music appreciation. She enthusiastically shares her knowledge with students of all ages and experience levels.
Originally from China, Ye moved to Hawaiʻi in 2020 to pursue her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology at UH Manoa and taught piano at Manoa School of Music & the Arts. She holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied piano with Van Schalkwyk, harpsichord with Debra Throgmorton, and piano pedagogy with Dr. Justin Krawitz. During her time in UH Manoa, she studied piano with Dr. Jonathan Korth and Hawaiian music composition (Haku Mele Hawaiʻi) with kumu hula Keawe Lopes. During her time at UH, she actively performed in the Contemporary Ensemble, Javanese Gamelan Ensemble, and Pau Hana Concert Series.
After the Manoa School of Music & the Arts closed its Manoa location, Ye witnessed firsthand the challenges of sustaining local music education. Still deeply passionate about providing a nurturing space for keiki to learn and grow through music, she joined RE/MAX Hawai‘i as a licensed real estate agent.
Ye now uses her real estate expertise not only to help families buy and sell homes in Hawai‘i with care and professionalism, but also to support her calling in music education. By combining her skills in both fields, she commits a portion of her real estate commission directly to Pikake Music Studio — helping fund student scholarships, performance opportunities, and high-quality learning resources.
